Root, January 15, 2026 – HOCHDORF Swiss Nutrition isrecalling one of its Bimbosan brand goat milk products. This affects 10,000 ofa total of 1.2 million packs of Bimbosan produced in 2025. The recall isvoluntary and is a precautionary measure due to a defective raw material used inthe manufacture of the goat milk product. The recall has been agreed with the authorityin the canton of Thurgau, where HOCHDORF produces its infant formula.
The quality defects were found in partsof the omega-6 fatty acid arachidonic acid, which came from a previous supplierand was processed at HOCHDORF in 2025. This was partially contaminated withcereulide. Due to the small amount of arachidonic acid used in Bimbosanproduction, the detected contamination with cereulide does not pose a serious healthrisk to babies; however, mild symptoms such as diarrhea, nausea, or vomiting cannotbe completely ruled out.
"This recall is a precautionarymeasure," says HOCHDORF CEO Sandro Tichelli. "The well-being ofbabies is our top priority. That is why we have decided to immediately recall theBimbosan goat's milk product that was manufactured with the defective arachidonicacid." This involves 10,000 packs of goat milk products for infants aged 0to 6 months. The rest of Bimbosan's production is not affected. HOCHDORFmanufactures a total of 1.2 million packs of its various Bimbosan productsannually. The recall therefore affects less than 1% of Bimbosan's total annualproduction.
At the beginning of this week, HOCHDORFreceived validated test results from its former supplier regarding qualityissues with some of the arachidonic acid it supplied in 2025. HOCHDORF immediatelyinformed the cantonal laboratory of the canton of Thurgau, where HOCHDORF's productionsite is located, which is responsible for food control. In consultation with theauthorities, a precautionary recall was initiated. This is being carried outvoluntarily.
At the same time, the company began toinform the major distributors, pharmacies, and drugstores where Bimbosan productsare available about the recall. Customers who have their own infant formulamanufactured by HOCHDORF and whose products also contain the defective arachidonicacid have also been informed.
Customers can return the products tothe place of purchase. For concerned parents, HOCHDORF has set up a specialinformation page on the websites www.hochdorf.com and www.bimbosan.ch.There you can see which goat milk products are affected by the recall.
